Marching Band Show Preparation
Here is a list of to do's for prepping for a performance with the marching band.
1. Make sure you have everything you need for your show.
a.) Instrument, equipment, sticks, mallets, shoes, black socks, show shirt (show shirt goes under uniform and is used as entrance to some venues).
2.) For instrumentalists make sure your instrument is clean and presentable.
a.). mallets-make sure your instruments bolts, knobs, and screws are in place and that it is working properly
b.) woodwinds polish and clean keys and instrument body with a clean cotton cloth or microfiber.
c.) Brass make sure to polish instrument with a silver or gold lacquer polish.
d.) guard make sure polls and flags are clean and presentable (microfiber cloth recommended). Rifles and saber tape should also be intact and presentable.
e.). Percussion make sure drums are clean and rims are free of dirt and debris. Using a microfibre cloth can be helpful. Make sure all lugs, bolts, and or screws are intact. Drum heads should be cleaned as well with a dab of windex on a cloth.

4.) Long hair needs to be in a high bun to fit under shakoes. Hair spray or gel should be used to hold hair in place under the shako (see video). Hair and make up needs to be done before you come to the school in the morning.
